The Edo State Ministry of Works has commended contractors handling road construction projects in Edo North and Edo Central for their unwavering commitment to quality and the timely delivery of projects.

The Ministry’s commendation came during the inspecting tour of the ongoing gully reclamation and channelization works at Afashio/Idatto/Ikabigbo/Ayogwiri along the Auchi-agenebode road projects in Edo North as well as construction sites in Edo Central.

Speaking during a two-day assessment of ongoing construction sites in Edo North and Edo Central on Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Works, Engineer John Obanor, who led senior ministry officials and journalists, said the level of work done so far shows that the contractors are aligned with the government’s drive to improve infrastructure across the state.

He urged the contractors to sustain the good work while directing them to address any technical issues they have observed by developing internal solutions.

Engineer Obanor said quality road infrastructure remains a top priority for the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo urging the contractors to sustain the pace of work as the rainy season approaches.

The PS also stated that all projects will be closely supervised to ensure value for money.

On his part, one of the project Coordinators, Place of Peace Investment Limited, Agbonze Oze, handling the 9.1km Irrua-Akho-Illeh-Ukhun Road in Esan Central Esan West LGA, said they have asphalted over 3 kilometers, adding that after the rain they will continue with more work.

The inspection toured areas include, Construction of 7.66km Access Road to Edo Technical College, Ogbona, including Some Internal Roads within the Township in Ogbona, Estako Central Local Government Area, Gully reclamation and Channelization works at Afashio/Idatto/Ikabigbo/Ayogwiri along the Auchi-agenebode road projects, Construction of Ikabigbo
-Ekperi Road cutting across Etsako West and Etsako Central Local Government Areas, Construction of 9km Irrua-Illeh-Usenu-Ukhun Road in Esan Central LGA, done by Mcfran Environmental Resources Limited, Irrua-Akho-Illeh-Ukhun Road in Esan Central Esan West LGA, done by the Place of Peace Investment Limited, which are either fifty percent or near completion.

Day two assessment tour continues on Wednessday in Edo Central, cutting across Uromi-Onewa-Udomi-
Ibhiolulu-Afuda-Idumoza-Eko-Uwaya-Ewora Road with spurs and construction of Utako-Udumu-Aligbe Road, Idumu-Ekhuere Road, in Esan North East and Esan Central LGA handled by Setraco Nigeria limited, 3km Construction of Access Road in Uromi, handled by Shaba construction and engineering limited, Uhe-Uzea Road Esan Central Esan North East LGA, handled by Hapeng Integrated Services Limited, 55km Ewu-Uromi
-Ekpon road handled by Setraco Nig. Limited, 4.2km Construction of Ebhebe Eko Omonuwa, Uromi Erylaston international limited, Ewatto- Udo Road, Esan South East and Igueben LGA, handled by Niger Construction Limited, Ideselu-Ewatto Road Esan South East LGA handled by Niger Construction Limited and Idumu-Iyasele Road Esan South East LGA handled by Niger Construction Limited.
