Eben Enasco Reporting.

There seems to be an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of renewed abduction of unsuspecting members of the public who have become cowered in fear as free for all kidnapping hits Edo State.

With so much anxiety created by the development, more people have been whisked to the far forest by the dire devils, who could barely feel for the innocent.

In less than three days, two kidnapping incidences in one location linking Edo south and Edo Central have been greeted with kidnapper’s sprees that could even get the dead old Rogan awake.

First, it was 32 passengers who were awaiting a train to ferry them to Warri, Delta State, as per authoritative reports, from the tacks of the State Police Command and the Chief Security officer, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Before long, unconfirmed reports had it that a former Edo State House of Assembly member, Festus Edughele, was kidnapped on Monday morning by suspected gunmen in Ubiaja while on his way from Orhionmwon to Benin City, the state capital.

Edughele was said to be traveling to Benin to board a plane to Abuja when he was abducted by the gunmen who took him into the wilderness.

A former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Festus Ebea, who confirmed the incident, said his former colleague intended to board the now-suspended train service from Ubiaja to Abuja.

Ebea said, “He was kidnapped this morning in Ubiaja on his way from Orhionmwon to Benin. He had intended to take the train for Ubiaja but he could not do so since the train services had been suspended.

“The family is aware of his kidnap, the police division in that area has been informed and we hope action will be taken to rescue him,” he added.

However, when contacted, Edo State Police spokesman, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor declined to make comments adding that there is no way he would speak on issues he has no first-hand information on.

SP Nwanbuzor said nobody has briefed him or the command on the incident.

However, on eye witness account, a certain passenger who also accessed the road on Monday gave an account of how they narrowly escaped another kidnapping incident involving a suspected magistrate judge who he claimed was also kidnap at the spot

In his words; “It was the little delay the army men delayed us at the junction that saved us. God help us

God even save us today because we were just behind those they kidnapped”.

With the now incessant hoodlums attack, it is difficult to believe that, with the massive manning of Security Operatives at roadblocks and checkpoints, these criminals should not have a free day when they laid siege and eventually succeeded in doing so.

Nigerians are concerned that there is a clear collapse in strategic security operations thought out and actions carried out afterward

Although Governor Godwin Obaseki is proposing to phase out the renewed security threat, it is not enough as close shaving off, of those perpetrating the heinous act should be extinguished not to keep citizens guessing.

Given the words of General Sani Abacha, the former Nigeria Dictator, if a government can not end an internal war, in Six months it will be normal to believe that the government is backing the game.
