If the video making the round on social media and other media outlets, are anything to believe, Dr. Bode Omowummi Steve Ekundayo, A Senior lecturer at the department of English and Literature, faculty of Art, University of Benin UNIBEN could face possible prosecution for reportedly rapping his Student in his office
The victim is said to be a 400 level English and Literature student, while the suspect is her Project supervisor.
Dr. Bode Omowummi Steve Ekundayo, was captured in a video circulated by a source, begging for forgiveness, after he was said to have raped an undergraduate female student in his office.
It was learned that, the unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, when she had gone to the office of the lecturer in her bid to submit her final year project.
It’s still sketchy as per what transpired in the office of the suspect, but he was said to have raped her and afterwards, locked her up for hours, refusing to let her go against her wish.
According to the source, she had to call a friend and explained where she was and what had happened. It was the friend, with the help of security guards and others, that rescued her.
He was subsequently taking to the administrative building where he was questioned and allegedly admitted to committing the crime.
Despite the report of her rape incident, no statement have been issued yet by the University Authority confirming or debunking as the suspect in question a senior lecturer.
Dr Ekundayor is likely to face Criminal Code of Nigeria (Section 357 & 358) as “having unlawful access, carnal knowledge of a woman or girl, without her consent, or with her consent, if the consent is obtained by force or by means of threats or intimidation of any kind, or by fear of harm after a confirmation, and if, the victim would like to go ahead seeking justice in no distance time
