A Benin High Court of Justice, on Tuesday, granted Remand Proceedings against the prime suspect, 25-year-old girl, Dominion Okoro, and four others in the murder of Mariam Oredola Igbinedion, the mother to the former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion.
Seven Counts Charge that bothers on Stealing, conspiracy, escaping police arrest, murder and other related offenses, were leveled against the Five defendants by the claimant.
Speaking shortly after the Court Procedure, the applicant’s Counsel, Chief superintendent of Police, Peter Ugwuba availed that, he was in court to seek application to remand the suspects in correctional facility for two weeks, pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP.
His application was, however, granted by the siting judge, Justice Efe Ikponmwonba.
Recall that, 85-year-old Mariam Oredola Igbinedion was allegedly murdered on December 1, 2021, by her Cook, who subsequently fled the scene with the victim’s jewelries as well as the sum of one hundred thousand Naira.
A development that led to the Police authority declaring her wanted for alleged murder and theft of properties punishable under the Country’s criminal code.
Recently, however, the 25-year-old suspect, Dominion Okoro was paraded alongside 427 others arrested for various crimes committed within the period under review by the state police command.
