The Edo State Health Insurance Scheme has commenced linkage of subscribers of its health insurance package with Health Management Organizations (HMOs) which will provide them access to quality and affordable healthcare services.
Addressing journalists in Benin City, the Director General of the Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Rock Amegor, said the State Health Insurance Scheme has enrolled over 8,000 persons in the formal sector of the state.
He said the commission has also captured the data of over 9,603 vulnerable persons including the elderly, physically challenged, low income pregnant women among persons that will benefit from the Equity Plan of the State Health Insurance Scheme.
He noted that “With the good number of enrollees so far, information regarding their healthcare facility and Identification Card has been sent to all enrollees via text messages, to enable them know the healthcare facility they can access quality healthcare.
According to him, the commission is working to ensure facilities are ready for access and that enrollees receive their Health Insurance ID Card before they can begin accessing services.
He urged subscribers to be optimistic as the commission is working towards ensuring all residents have access to quality healthcare in the state.
