Defilement Case: Kano Coach Gets 8-Year Jail Term.

Eben Enasco Reporting.

A Kano State High Court has sentenced football coach Hayatu Muhammad to eight years imprisonment for sodomizing an underage player.

Justice Musa Dahuri Muhammad delivered the judgment, finding the coach guilty of sexually assaulting the minor at different locations in Kano.

The prosecution, led by Barrister Ibrahim Arif Garba, presented two witnesses whose testimonies proved the coach’s culpability. Despite denying the allegations, the court held that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The coach was sentenced to four years imprisonment on each of the two counts, to run concurrently, without the option of a fine.

The court ruled that the offense violated Section 284 of the Penal Code, which prohibits unnatural sexual acts.
