Oba Ewuare Traditional Wrestling Competition: Oredo Clinches Gold
The Royal Palace of Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, HRM, Oba Ewuare II, on Thursday hosted the revived traditional wrestling competition as part of the Igue festival celebrations.
Key Highlights from the event had
Participants from Oredo, Egor, Ikpoba Okha, and Orhionmwon Local Government areas showcased skills and strength.
Ovbokhan Dele representing Oredo won Gold in the Junior category, while Friday Eribo Oredo secured Bronze in Senior category.
Reacting to the revived game event
Oredo athletes praised Oba Ewuare II for reviving traditional wrestling where they vowed to improve in the next year’s competition.
Dr. Tom Obaseki, Oredo Council Chairman, who had been largely involved in sport development lauded for the support.
In an Official Statements Hon. Morgan Igunma, Supervising Counselor for Sports conveyed the Commendations of the council Chairman to athletes for exceptional performances.
Dr. Obaseki who expressed gratitude to Oba Ewuare II for preserving Edo culture, encourage improvement for future victories.
He pledged the Council’s commitment in the sustenance of traditional wrestling competition, Increase council-palace collaboration, as well as enhanced cultural preservation.
