Three passengers on Saturday lost their lives when a trailer driver smashed from behind a Popular Transport Company, Iyare Motors heading to Benin from Lagos leaving many others with life-threatening injuries.
The incident was said to have happened in the afternoon around the former toll gate area in the Benin-Lagos expressway.
According to a viral video uploaded by a third party and seen by our correspondent a vehicle of the Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, was seen carrying out a rescue mission while some passenger’s bodies as well as relics of passengers load littered the ground where the incident occurred.
When contacted on a telephone conversation, a man simply called VICTOR who identified himself as the Manager of the Coy, confirmed the incident of the casualty.
Victor disclosed that the truck lost control after a faulty break when he rammed into a Siena bus and other vehicles, including a twelve-seater bus belonging to Iyare Motors plying the route leaving three of the passengers dead on the spot.
Also speaking on the incident, the Spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, Edo State Sector Command, Ukor Orevaoghene said the accident happened around the former toll gate area.
Orevaoghene noted that three persons died as a result of the accident adding that she will furnish more information about the accident at the earliest days.
As of the time of this report, it is still in the preliminary stage to establish if there are other deaths recorded from passengers that sustained varying degrees of injuries other than the three earlier confirmed on the spot by the authorities.
