Edo State Police Command and the Nigeria Union of Journalists Edo State Council, say they are determined to work together to have a crime-free society in the state.
This was the aftermath of the visit of the New State Police Commissioner, Abutu Yaro, on Tuesday, to the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Edo State Council.
Yaro, who admitted that he is looking forward to the synergy between the Fourth Estate of the realm, and the command, said he is engaged in various strategies to lessen surging criminal activities in the state.
The host, and Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, pledged the Unions’ commitment to the visiting Commissioner.
On Checking quackery, Alenkhe, however, appealed to the State Police Command to collaborate with the leadership of the Union to fizzle out cons within the Journalism profession.
Alenkhe also revealed that plans were on the way to set up a peace resolution committee to synergize with the police on issues of common concern.
Abutu Yaro was redeployed to Edo State Command a fortnight ago to replace CP Philip Ogbadu who retired after 35 years of active policing service.
