Edo State House of Assembly on monday confirmed the appointment of Christopher Osaretin Nehikhare and seven others out of the nine commissioner nominees sent to the house for screening by the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

The confirmation was done shortly after the house resumed plenary at the Hallowed Chambers of the Anthony Enahoro Assembly complex.

The Seven other Commissioner nominees cleared include, Omololu o. Ojehomon, Afishetu Braimoh, Stephen Idehenre, and Engr Osasere Malachi Evbuomwan.

Others were: Okogbe Donald Ojemeh, Okojie Nosawe Newton, and Engr Jonathan Osioakpaiemhe Lawan, while Bamidele Obaitan will be screened at a later date.

The procedure of their screening came after the chairman of the three-man Ad hoc committee and Majority leader, Rt. Hon. Henry Okhuarobo, a member representing the Ikpoba Okha constituency presented the screening report before the House which was later considered on One Point recommendation.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amb Marcus Onobun who expressed optimism at the eloquent presentations made by the nominees emphasized the endless need to carry Edo youths along in policy formulation as well as its decision making in every area of governance.

He, however, urged the Clerk, Alhaji Yahaya Audu-Umogbai to transmit copies of the confirmation to the Governor for onward swearing-in of the commissioner nominees.

Meanwhile, Speaking before their confirmation, the Commissioner nominees promised to work in line with the mega Agenda of the state Governor to provide quality representations to the people.
