Hard times await 60 suspected FRAUDSTERS otherwise addressed as ‘Yahoo boys’, who dubiously rely on fortunes of others for unfortunate merriment to sustain their living in Ogun State.

The unfortunate incident was said to have happened at a ceremony, christened, awards Night for high level internet criminals, and for some dubious elements who were celebrating another man’s wealth for their own enterprises, when the Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, from the Lagos State Command, who relied on intelligence reports, busted the scene and apprehend the 60 suspected internet fraudsters in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The commission, in a statement, said the event tagged “Peer Youths Awards”, was organized to reward high-level internet fraudsters.

The suspected criminals were not only arrested, but with some Items, also recovered from them at the incident point.

The items, according to the statement released, include, exotic cars, electronic devices, laptop computers and mobile phones.

It said, the suspects will soon be charged to court.

Elsewhere, the Kaduna Zonal Command of the commission, Monday, arraigned one Daniel Dal before Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna on one count charge bordering on employment scam.

Daniel was said to have allegedly obtained the sum of N1, 500,000 Naira from his victim to secure a job for him with the Universal Basic Education Commission, but failed to fulfill.

Attempts by the victim to get a refund, also failed, leading to his arrest and onward prosecution.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the one count charge, prompting the prosecuting counsel, P.C Onyeneho, to ask the court for a date for trial to commence.

However, defence counsel, T.A Bello, urged the court to admit his client to bail.

Justice Khobo granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1 million Naira and one surety in like sum, who must be resident in Kaduna State and have a landed property with a Certificate of Occupancy.

The case will, however, resume on February 22, 2022, for the commencement of trials.
