Women in the society have been identified as makers of veritable homes and offices as well as critical Stakeholders when giving the opportunity in the Public space.
In a message delivered on Wednesday to newsmen in Benin City, by the Former Minister of Women Affairs, who by extension is the first Vice President, Nigeria League of Women Voters, NILOWV, Honorable Iyom Josephine Anenhi, urged relevant authorities to increase women stake to allow them to access public life.
Anenhi who also doubles as Chairperson, 25th Anniversary Local Organizing Committee, LOC, of NILOWV, emphasized that, NILOWV like her counterparts all over the world, will continue to encourage and empower women and girls to be more informed and active in Politics.
She explained that, the theme of this year conference, ‘Full and Equal Participation of Women in Public Life and Leadership’, is to enable the league to fully explore the progress made by women in public life and leadership in the past 25 years,
She noted that, the conference would also allow the opportunity to enumerate some challenges, and what more needs to be done by all stakeholders in that direction, stressing that, it has become a fact that, no nation can develop when half of her population is held back.
Activities marking the 25th Anniversary Celebration of NILOWV will commence, effect Friday, November 19th, 2021, at the Main Campus of the University of Benin, Ugbowo, Benin City.
