Upcoming Legal Practitioners in Benin City, Edo State can now withstand shabby appearances in any law court of justice, to defend the profession, following a new standard of practice Set by Otamere Law firm.

At a Two days retreat aimed at equipping young upcoming lawyers to get a better grip of the law when appearing in court, the Organizer, Ovenseri Otamere, said it was the first of its kind for the Chambers.

According to Otamere, the retreat was conceived principally to help young upcoming lawyers in his firm to be better armed for the practice of law in its finest form.

Despite the Retreat initially calculated to accommodate only lawyers within his chambers, much glamour was added to the occasion as some seasoned practitioners in other chambers who caught wind of the event, found a way to wiggle out time to grace the occasion with their presence.

Addressing Participants, during the event on the theme; Settling of Pleadings and Briefs of Argument’, Facilitators, MCI Ohiogueri, retired Director, Civil Litigation, Ministry of Justice supported by Ruth Oaihimire from the office of the SGPS, Ministry of Justice, and Edoba Osifo, a Private legal practitioner agreed that the retreat was apt in motivating young wigs’ bearers.

On her part, Hon. Justice Esohe Frances Ikponmwen, the retired Chief Judge of Edo State, enjoined participants, particularly young wigs’ bearers to strive first for excellence, stressing that, the benefits of integrity, discipline, patience, mastering the art of calmness and self-control in the face of provocation, will build a prudent track for a successful attainment and journey.

Douglas Ogbankwa a facilitator, harped on the need to be Information Technology literate as lawyers, to excel and run with the growing frontiers of law as it evolves daily.

Over 18 participants attended the two days retreat and all spoke in one voice of benefiting immensely from the lecture as they prepare for the 2021/22 legal year.
