Team Edo is dominating the 2nd Niger Delta Games, tagged Edo2026, with impressive performances across various events.
Medal Highlights include swimming where Team Edo secured six gold medals.
Precious Tissa 50m Freestyle Male, Lucky Ayeni 50m Freestyle Female), and Kolade Otunla 50m Backstroke Male.
On Athletics, Osawe Salami clocked 51.73 seconds in the men’s 400m Hurdles, while Solomon Okundaye won gold in the Men’s 800m Final with a time of 1:56.34.
Edo on Taekwondo, had Emmanuel Ogbevoen clinching gold in the 68kg category, while Para Powerlifting had Nicholas Ojomah won gold in the 72kg category.
Rebecca Njoku and Emmanuel Chakamumudu who stirred Edo Field Events secured gold medals in the women’s and men’s Hammer throws, accordingly.
Other Notable Performances including Edo’s female basketball team advanced to the quarterfinals, defeating Delta 20-18.
However, Osayande Kingsley secured silver in the Chess Male Rapid category, while Omoruyi Sandra Osarugue won gold in the Female Rapid category.
The event is expected to continue tomorrow in Benin City
