Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the high-level committee report which tackled the longstanding land restitution issue in Oke Oroma, a community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area.
The move follows, weeks of Oke Oroma Community profiling exercise of property owners between local residents, developers and other interest groups over claims of unlawful land acquisition by the former administration of Godwin Obaseki.
In a statement released and signed on behalf of the Committee by its secretary, Dr Abdulwasiu Oyakhire
said after Governor Monday Okpebholo considered the preliminary report, approved for the committee to proceed with the allocation of plots to property owners in Oke Oroma Community LOT-A and LOT-B who have been profiled.
He urged individuals with valid claims to pick up letters from the office of the commissioner for Land and Housing Hon. Yakubu Musa JP, between Thursday the 22nd day to Tuesday the 27th day of January, 2026.
He encourages genuine owners to come with original and a photocopy of a valid means of identification.
The statement further noted that individuals who have, during this peroid received their letters in LOT-A are advised to check the Ministry’s notice board on Monday the 2nd day of February 2026, for a date for plot identification as fresh allocation has been conducted on a new layout design.
According to the statement, the government is willing to treat any unruly behaviour from anyone during the exercise as an act of land grabbing gimmicks, stressing that it will be met with Extant laws of Edo State applicable to the anti- land grabbing law.
He warned that no letter will be issued by any proxy except with authorization with the ministry of land and housing Edo state, effective Wednesday 28, 2026.
He said the administration of Governor okpebholo remains committed to the wellbeing of the people.
