Gov. Okpebholo Reaffirms Mission At Benin Town Hall, Says No Tales Spinning.
Eben Enasco Reporting.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has doubled down on his mandate: _delivering tangible, people-first development — no distractions, no fluff.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Benin City with members of the Akpakomiza Movement for Tinubu popularly known as _Team FIGO-Connect, Okpebholo reminded supporters: “You didn’t elect me to spin tales — you voted for results. You voted for roads. You voted for schools. You voted for security. You voted for dignity.”
He reiterated that his administration’s blueprint is rooted in real community needs — not political theater.
According to him, “I’m not here to make headlines,” he said. “I’m here to build highways, fix gullies, reopen schools, and turn Edo from an ancient city into a modern, thriving metropolis.”
Recalling his campaign visit to Temboga, where he personally witnessed the devastating scale of gully erosion, Okpebholo said:
“I couldn’t even walk inside the community. That moment changed everything. I promised to return. And I did. Today, Temboga is seeing real change and that’s just the beginning.”
He emphasized that development isn’t the governor’s solo project — it belongs to the people.
“Without your vote, I wouldn’t be standing here. So don’t thank me — thank yourselves. This is OUR victory.”
On fiscal responsibility, Okpebholo pointed out that his government receives the same statutory allocation as predecessors — yet chooses to prioritize long-term infrastructure over short-term gains.
“Our work will speak louder than speeches. When the time comes, Edo people will ask: ‘Where’s the money?’ And we’ll show them — in concrete, in classrooms, in clinics, in jobs.”
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies and tax relief for low-income earners.
“Our president is finally putting the common man first. The parasites who fed off the old system? They’re sweating now. That’s progress.”
Key projects highlighted include:
Durable reconstruction of Sapele Road, Erosion control & roadworks in Ogheghe, Major upgrades to neglected public schools across the state.
The event drew heavyweights including APC Edo Chairman Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, Commissioner for Energy & Water Resources Barrister Washington Osifo, and members of the Edo State Executive Council.
Notably, members of the Labour Party’s _Obedient Movement_ announced the dissolution of their structures in Edo and pledged support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Comrade Ikhuenbor Felix Igbinevbo, Edo State Obedient Movement coordinator, said: “We backed Peter Obi in 2023 — but we’ve seen the vision. President Tinubu’s reforms are working. We’re switching sides — for the good of Nigeria.”
The town hall engagement closed with thunderous chants of “Okpebholo, deliver!” and pledges from attendees to rally behind the governor’s agenda, because in Edo, promises aren’t stories. They’re blueprints being built.
