The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has hailed Nigeria’s Super Eagles for their gritty third-place finish at AFCON 2025.
He called it a proud moment for the nation and a testament to the team’s unwavering spirit.
In a statement, Enabulele lauded the Eagles for overcoming a tense Egypt side in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout (4-2) after the game ended goalless, saying their performance especially in the face of Egyptian aggression reflected the true Nigerian spirit of determination and belief.
He singled out Coach Eric Chelle’s tactical nous, key substitutions that shifted momentum, and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s match-winning heroics from the spot.
“The Super Eagles have once again shown Nigeria remains a respected force in African football,” Enabulele declared. “Securing bronze after a grueling tournament speaks volumes about their character and refusal to buckle under pressure.”
He urged the team to build on the momentum, assuring them of Nigerians’ unwavering support.
“Brighter days lie ahead for the national team,” he said confidently.
