The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, has held a special Sallah luncheon with troops of the Forward Operations Base FOB Sobe in Edo State.
In a Statement issued and made known to newsmen in Benin City by Captain Kennedy Anyanwu,
Assistant Director Army Public Relations 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, disclosed that the event held on Saturday, 21 March 2026, marked the successful completion of Eid-el-Fitr.
Addressing the troops, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to boosting morale and strengthening inter-agency collaboration.
The COAS, represented by Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, urged troops to remain steadfast in defending peace, unity, and national sovereignty.
He praised their resilience and professionalism, saying, “They serve in difficult environments, far from home, yet remain loyal and professional.”
He thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and leadership, and appreciated sister security agencies for their collaboration.
The Commander of FOB Sobe, Lieutenant Colonel Stanley Agboro, welcomed guests, describing the COAS Luncheon as a symbolic annual event that boosts morale, recognizes sacrifices, and strengthens camaraderie among troops.
He thanked the Brigade Commander, local government officials, including the Chairperson Owan West LGA Madam Joy Ohonyon who was represented by the Vice Chairman Dele Aleburu traditional leader, HRH Anthony Ero Aleburu I, Odibiado of Sobe and his entourage for gracing the event, as well as security agencies for attending, appreciating their support and presence.
The event included a luncheon, with cultural performances, and morale-boosting songs.
