The Edo State Police Command has announced significant breakthroughs in its fight against kidnapping and violent crimes in Ubiaja.
This follows a strategic deployment led by Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika,
Recall that earlier this year, a disturbing reports of kidnapping incidents in the surrounding communities in Edo Central, trended, thereby, causing panics
However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, personally led a strategic operational deployment to Edo Central, where he was reported to have spent six days in the area on the 16th day to 22nd day of February 2026, carrying out on-the-spot security assessments, strategizing operational approaches and repositioning personnel for more effective policing.
During this Operation, forests around Ubiaja were identified as one of the key areas of security concerns, placing accordingly, the area under intensified surveillance and operational focus.
Subsequently, in a statement released by ASP ENO IKOEDEM, POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER,EDO STATE COMMAND on Sunday February 8, 2026, disclosed the names of the Suspects as Suleman Harruna, 28, arrested on Feb 17, 2026, linked to a notorious kidnapping gang, Ibrahim Kodo, 25, arrested on Feb 20, 2026, with the Nigerian Army’s help, Orsee Iorzaa, 32, arrested on Feb 26, 2026, identified by a kidnapped victim
Also in recent collaborative efforts with members of the Edo State Security Corps carried out a bush-combing operation in the Onogholį» and Akwocha forests on March 7, 2026, leading to a gun duel, where a suspect was neutralized, and three others fled with injuries
The police command has commended the Ubiaja Division team for their professionalism and resilience, urging residents to continue to provide credible information to aid ongoing efforts against criminal elements in the state.
