The Edo State Internal Revenue Service, EIRS, has reminded individuals, professionals, and businesses to file their annual tax returns by March 31, 2026, to avoid penalties.

In a statement signed by the Executive Chairman, John Osirenimhe Odior, and made known to newsmen in Benin City disclosed that filing is mandatory, as per the 1999 Constitution and Nigeria Tax Administration Act NTAA 2025.

The statement noted that Eligible taxpayers include: Employees and professionals, Entrepreneurs and business owners, Online traders and content creators, as well as Tradespeople in the informal sector

The statement further advised stakeholders to file electronically via https://www.eirs.gov.ng with required documents including Self-Assessment Form A, Income details, Tax computations, Audited financial statements (for
businesses), Taxpayer ID, Payment evidence

The statement made available, where to submit completed documented evidence to, e-filing@eirs.gov.ng.

The EIRS warned that failure to comply, refusal to file, or the submission of incomplete or inaccurate information will result in administrative penalties as prescribed under the Nigeria Tax Administration Act.

It said, Tax filing supports Edo State’s growth as stakeholders are urged to visit EIRS or call 0813 097 0146, for help.
