Nigeria’s Chief Of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to improving troops’ welfare, development, and dignity.

At an Easter luncheon with troops of Forward Operation Base 4 Brigade, 2 Division Nigerian Army, in Udomi, Esan North East, Edo State, on Saturday, he made the assurance.

Represented by Major General Adebayo Adegbite, the COAS emphasized the troops’ sacrifices that have ensured citizens’ security.

COAS commended the troops across the Country for their commitment and professionalism, noting that Easter and Eid-el-Fitr celebrations remind us of Nigeria’s collective strength despite differences.

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 2 Division, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, praised the COAS for showing commitment to troop welfare.

He noted that the gathering aligns with the COAS Command Philosophy, aiming to transform the Nigerian Army into a “professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient force” capable of fulfilling its constitutional duties in a joint and multi-agency setting.

He praised the troops for dominating their Area of responsibility, neutralizing threats like banditry, armed robbery, and kidnapping, reassuring the civilian populace.

He added that their successes have strengthened the bond between the Army and citizens, thanking the COAS for visiting troops at the FOB, where he noted that his presence has bridged the gap between headquarters and Frontline.

The event featured a luncheon, cultural performances, comedy presentations and morale-boosting songs.

 

Notables present included HRH Christopher Ike Kebordih, The Ebije I of Illushi Kingdom, local government chairmen, heads of other security agencies in Uromi who graced the occasion.
