Five persons suspected to have perfected plans to kidnap an Immigrant in Okomu Oil Plantation, Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State, have been opposed by the Police Operatives.

The Police also recovered one AK 47 gun, One single Barrel cut to size gun, one long Barrel gun, and 8 live cartridges from the suspected illegal mobs.

A statement released by the state command and made available to our correspondent by the state police Image maker, SP Kontongs Bello, disclosed that the suspected kidnappers on spotting the team of Operatives opened fire on them.

Bello, however, noted that the suspected criminals gave way to the superior firepower of the police operatives who engaged the hoodlums on receipt of credible information.

He maintained that Police has commenced a search for other fleeing syndicates who he claimed sustained varying degrees of injuries during an ensued gun-duel

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Edo State Command Abutu Yaro, while hailing the public for the prompt information that led to the neutralizing of the criminal elements, he reinstated his commitment to the protection of lives and property in the state.
