This is the story of a so-called 46 years old Adisa Afusat Olayinka, a businesswoman who was said to be heading to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for Umrah Lesser Hajj and was reportedly intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport NAIA, Abuja for ingesting 80 pellets of cocaine.
Adisa Afusat Olayinka resides in Ibafo, Ogun state, but reportedly hails from Ilorin, Kwara state.
Luck, however, ran out of her last week Wednesday, when she was allegedly intercepted, at the boarding screening area of the airport during an outward clearance of Qatar Airways flight 1418 by some intelligently superior officers of the Drugs’ law enforcement Agency.
She was subsequently taken into custody where she reportedly excreted 80 pellets of the illicit drug between Wednesday and Saturday, November 27, 202.
She claimed, during interviews that she saved N2.5million Naira over a period of one year to buy the drugs in bits from six different people at Akala, Mushin area of Lagos.
According to the suspect who made further confessions, she said she was trading in clothes but had to borrow N1 million Naira from three persons to make up the money used to buy the drugs, while adding that, she spent another N1 million Naira to renew her passport, visa and buy return flight tickets.
Olayinka said she was encouraged to traffic the drugs by a woman whom she met during her last Umrah trip to Saudi Arabia in 2019.
While commending the officers and men of the NAIA and MMIA commands for their vigilance and steadfastness, Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, rtd, urged them to always stay two steps ahead of the drug cartels.
In a similar development, the drug law agency also recorded another achievement, when it arrested one Inusa Abdulrazaki with 101 wraps of heroin weighing 1.3 kilograms on November 19, 2021.
Abdulrazaki, was said to have been intercepted and arrested at the departure hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while on his way out to Italy via Istanbul.
According to NDLEA, the drugs were concealed inside cassava flour popularly called garri.
