Combating Crime: Edo CP Seeks Media Collaboration

The Commissioner of Police, Edo State, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, has emphasized the importance of a working relationship between the police and media organizations in combating crime and criminality in the state.

This collaboration, she believes, will foster a criminally free environment where confidence is instilled for business to thrive.

During a familiarization call on Wednesday, to the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, CP Otimenyin stressed that policing is a collective effort, requiring the active participation of both the police and the media.

“I am here to work with Journalists and make Edo a safe environment. Tell us something and we would do something,” she said.

Responding, the Host and Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, assured the Commissioner of the Union’s support.

He also appealed for more time to implement the third-party insurance directive issued by the Inspector
-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, where he suggested, a week-long sensitization program instead.

This move is part of the Edo State Command’s efforts to strengthen security in the state.

CP Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin has made history as the 49th Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, and notably, the first female commissioner to be deployed to the state command.
