Delay in NIFOR CEO Appointment: 16 Edo Communities Seek Federal Government’s Attention.Eben Enasco Reporting.

Sixteen host communities in Edo State’s Ovia North East Local Government Area have petitioned the Federal Government regarding the prolonged delay in announcing the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research, NIFOR, CEO appointment.

Uwan, Ugbogiobo, Evboneka, Iyowa, Oluku, Okokhuo, Abumwere, Isikhukhu, Ekowe, Ekodobo, Azalama, Ozoguo, Obazuwa, Ekiadolor, Iguediaken, and Okunuvbe are the petitioners.

Key Issues highlighted by the petitioners include delayed release of interview results conducted over 14 months ago, Alleged suppression of competency test results, and Lack of transparency, fueling speculations and unrest.

The petition, done under the aegis of NIFOR Host Communities Elders Forums, was addressed to the Minister, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, Senate President, Chief of Staff to the President, Permanent Secretary, and Head of Service was Signed by Omobude Ali Joseph, Aighobahi Daniel, Omoruyi Jolly, Ahanor Ekhosuehi, and Ofamukoro Matthew.

The Community is also Concerned
about Merit-based appointments compromised, Staff and stakeholder uncertainty as well as Undermining transparency.

Since August 19, 2023 the Vacant CEO position was advertised and in
October 10-12, 2023, Written and oral examinations were conducted.

The demand by the petitioners is the immediate release of interview results and transparent appointment process.
