It was a huge celebration in the camp of team Edo on the eve of the end of competition at the ongoing second Niger Delta Games as their weightlifters expressed themselves in a superlative manner sweeping virtually all gold available in the Sport.
Team Edo has proven to be the power house of Weightlifting events in the Niger Delta region as they won a total of 17 gold out of 27 to help the host state maintain number one position.
In the latest medal table released by the organising body,Edo maintained firm control with 50 Gold,30 silver medals to maintain their lead .
Delta state remained in the second position on the medal table with 34 and 26 gold and silver just as Bayelsa kept their 3rd spot with 23,20 gold and silver. Akwa Ibom is in the distant 4th place with 12,15,
Gold and silver as Abia occupied 5th position with 8 gold and 17 silver.
The host state’s athletes have put on brilliant performances in other sports including athletes, Scrabble, High jump, Boxing and aquatic.
Team Edo is primed to win more gold in athletics, football as the tracks of the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium is set to burn as the athletics finals hold to roundoff competitions on Thursday.
The team’s impressive display of skill, strength, and determination has sent shockwaves throughout the state, leaving fans and spectators alike in awe.
