The Edo State Police Command has reported notable achievements in crime prevention.

However, they warn that body disappearances from some morgues in the state will be thoroughly investigated following the recent disturbing trends.

Police Commissioner, Monday Agbonika revealed these statistics during a press briefing in Benin City on Monday, highlighting arrests made during the period under review, including 171 kidnapping suspects, 177 murder cases, 239 cultism-related crimes, 39 armed robbery cases, 62 sex-related offences, 36 unlawful firearm possession cases, 157 other related crimes, Totalling 821 suspects arrested.

CP Agbonika also revealed that 11 stolen vehicles, 118 arms of different calibers, and 422 ammunitions of similar range were recovered by the police.

On the disappearance of corpses from some morgues, the State Police Chief, further described such act as criminal, inhuman, callous and gross voilation of the sensitivity of the bereaved, assuring the public that anyone found culpable will face severe consequences.

He encouraged families to patronize government owned mortuaries where he believes that proper oversight and accountability are guaranteed.

While commending the support of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, and other Sister Security Agencies, Agbonika said the joint approach underscores the collective response to confronting crime in the state.

He maintained that the police are working to address crimes in Edo, particularly during the festive periods, emphasizing accountability and transparency.
