Eben Enasco Reporting.
The Edo State Special Security Squad, codenamed “Operation Flush Out Cultists and Kidnappers,” has achieved another significant breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on criminality.
On September 3, 2025, the squad, in collaboration with security agencies and community stakeholders, arrested nine suspected cultists and recovered a cache of firearms in Iguoshodin N’ Ikpemaba, Ovia North East Local Government Area.
According to the Coordinator of the Squad, Idemudia Noah, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence from residents about a cult group terrorizing the community.
The suspects, believed to be members of the notorious Eiye confraternity, were arrested, and a thorough search of the area led to the recovery of: Two Baretta pistols
Two cut-to-size double-barrel guns
Live AK-47 ammunition
The arms and ammunition were recovered from a building allegedly belonging to Osazuwa Igbineweka, the Okaighele of Omi, who has been declared wanted by the police for constituting a threat to peace in the community.
Residents of Iguoshodin N’ Ikpemaba have commended the security agencies for their swift intervention, describing the raid as timely and necessary in restoring peace to the troubled community.
The Coordinator emphasized that the firearms recovered were prohibited arms associated with organized criminal activities, highlighting the extent of the threat posed by these individuals.
The Edo State Special Security Squad has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that cultism, kidnapping, and other violent crimes are flushed out of the state.
The squad assures residents of its resolve to work with communities to stamp out criminal networks and restore peace to the state.
