Edo Suspension: Council Chairmen Remain Upbeat, Resume

In compliance with an Edo State High Court order, several local government chairmen resumed duties on Thursday, conducting official business despite attempted disruptions by suspected thugs in some councils.

It was learned that some officials at the top level of government have concluded that the charmen must be relieved but how they were going to execute the plan remains unknown.

In Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Chairman, Tajudeen Alade, conducted official duties in his office, engaging with staff where he emphasized the importance of council autonomy, while stressing that self-governance would catalyze sustainable development, benefiting the local community.

He appealed to the Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo to remain a father to all, emphasising that the three tiers of government need one another to deliver the dividends of democracy.

Similarly, in the Oredo Government Council, Dr. Tom Obaseki, the Executive Chairman was at work where he embarked on a Guided Tour of On-going Projects, including the renovation of Ogbe Primary School, rehabilitation and landscaping of Ore-Oghene Primary School, construction of Victor Avenue/Omoruyi Street off Oguola and Erhunmwuse Streets amd construction of Azama Community Road.

Addressing journalists shortly after the tour, Dr. Tom Obaseki expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work done so far despite the delay occasioned by the bad weather.

He noted that the infrastructural update will greatly improve the lives of the people, assuring to complete the project between three to four weeks.
