Manchester United has parted ways with head coach Erik ten Hag following a dismal start to the season.

The Dutch manager’s departure comes after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham United, which left the Red Devils languishing in 14th place in the Premier League table after nine games.

Ten Hag, appointed in May 2022, had been under increasing pressure due to the team’s subpar performances.

Despite winning two cups during his reign, including the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, the 53-year-old coach failed to deliver consistency in the league.

The latest defeat proved the final straw, with fans and pundits alike calling for his dismissal.

United’s hierarchy has now acted, ending Ten Hag’s 17-month tenure at Old Trafford.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, a legendary United striker, has been tasked with taking charge on an interim basis.

The 47-year-old Dutchman will oversee first-team affairs while the club searches for a permanent replacement.

The search for Ten Hag’s successor is underway, with several high-profile managers linked to the vacancy.

United’s hierarchy will aim to appoint a coach capable of restoring the club’s glory days and challenging for major honors.
