The Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Edo State has declined to sign the peace accord, citing concerns over the credibility of critical stakeholders involved in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, PDP State Chairman Tony Aziegbemi expressed reservations about the integrity of the electoral process.

Aziegbemi questioned the ability of the stakeholders to ensure a free, fair, and credible election, prompting the PDP’s decision not to sign the peace pact.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the peace accord and former Military President General Abdulsalaam Abubakar Rtd, speaks of the benefits, where other Political Parties signed the accord documents.

This move highlights the party’s concerns about the potential for electoral malpractices and its commitment to ensuring a transparent and democratic process.

By refusing to sign the peace accord, the PDP is emphasizing the need for electoral stakeholders to address its concerns and ensure a level playing field for all political parties involved in the Edo 2024 gubernatorial poll.
