Edo State Police Command says two suspected criminals in Military Uniform who attacked and robbed an unregistered Mercedes Benz car driver in Ekpoma are now in its custody.

The command said it also recovered the stolen vehicle and other items during the operation.

Addressing newsmen on its achievements during the period under review on Tuesday at the State Police Command Headquarters in Benin City, the Spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, identified the suspected Criminals as Ibrahim Adamu 25-year-old and Abdullahi Abdulwahab 26-year-old.

He said the suspects attacked the driver of an unregistered C300 Mercedes Benz car in Sapele, Delta State, and snatched the car from him, forcing him to transfer N400,000 to an account provided by the suspects in an alleged bargain between them and the driver.

SP Nwabuzo revealed that the suspects were later apprehended in army uniform by the police crack team of the state command following intelligent information gathering at Ekpoma while heading to Abuja where one unidentified Alhaji was expecting to buy the stolen car.

The officer, one Abdullahi Abdulwahab, 26, a naval personnel and his suspected crime backer, and a personnel of the Nigeria Correctional Service, attached to the Kaduna State correctional facility said he was enlisted into the Navy in 2019, and work in Lokoja, Kogi State before he was posted to Warri Delta State.

The Suspect Abdulwahab further disclosed that they were driving to Abuja after taking over the steering from the driver of an unregistered Mercedes Benz they attacked with a cruel intention when police intercepted them

Similarly, the police operatives also paraded a 27-year-old man identified as Emeka Ugwu who was caught vandalizing an armored cable belonging to an electricity distribution company along the Upper Mission axis in Benin City.

In a related operation, the police Operatives also apprehend 12-Secret-Cult-Member-gange who the police claimed were having a clandestine meeting on how to launch an attack on rivals’ opposition cult group.

However, the suspects at various points made a confessional statement each when queried on their alleged involvement in the reported crimes.

SP Nwabuzor said the command has launched an investigation and would soon charge all suspects in Court.
