For many Christian churches, and believers of the gospel of Christ Jesus, Easter is seen as the joyful end to the Lenten season of fasting and penitentiary.
It also marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion.
Knowing the significance of the Crucifixion, the chairman of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, Edo state council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, is urging Christians and Journalists in the state to Remember the resurrection of Jesus as a way to renew daily hope because of the attainment recorded over sin.
Comrade Alenkhe in a message of felicitation to the people of Edo state especially Journalists as they mark the Easter event admonished them to look upon the fulfilled prophecy of the Messiah who would be persecuted, die for the sins of Man, and rose on the third day
Alenkhe, In the statement, congratulated the people of Edo state for witnessing another Easter and pray God to take everyone to 2024 Easter and many Easter celebrations in the nearest future.
The NUJ Chairman said the statement by Jesus Christ on the cross, “IT IS FINISHED ” ended the calamities the world would have been experiencing and the statement finally renewed the Christian Faith today.
According to the statement ” Let me join the good people of Edo state to congratulate everyone in the state for making us witness the 2023 Easter celebration.
“It is my wish that the risen Lord will continue to protect His children in peace and love”.
As we look forward to a new Government in Nigeria on 29th May 2023, l pray God to use the incoming leadership to better the lots of Nigerians and reduce the sufferings the people are currently passing through. Let us emulate the footsteps of Christ and refrain from the evil that will plunge us to regret ever coming to this world.

The statement also congratulated Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki and the Oba of Benin on Easter.
He also reminded journalists to always consider God first while performing their duties and stressed the need for balance reportage and verification of news items before making it public in line with the ethics of the journalism profession.
