Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin has been crowned Edo State 2023 football Association, FA, Cup Winners after defeating its Feeders team 2-0.
The State FA cup final match, played Wednesday, at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin, had the two Bendel Insurance teams set up against each other for the second time consecutively after defeating their opponents in the quarterfinals.
The Senior team after slugging it out for the cup title, following Imade Osarenkhoe’s 10th-minute and Sodje Stephens’s 68th-minute goals had the upper hand.
Both teams also reached the finals and represented the state at the national level of the Federation cup last season, making it a new record in Edo Football history.
Coach Stanley Osazee’s managed Insurance Feeders, however, showed brilliance with their tiki-taka free-flow performance but the senior team showed strength and experience, which made the difference.
On the road to the finals, the Monday Odigie-led Benin Arsenals
started the 2023 Edo FA Cup campaigns with a 3-0 win over amateur sides Etete FC and Yak FC respectively in the second round and quarter-final matches. Insurance FC went on to beat Eagle Wings 1-0 in the Semifinals.
On the other hand, the Insurance Feeders defeated Konstanz Dike FC 1-0 in the second round before going ahead to beat Ine Stars 2-0 in the quarter-finals before their 4-2 shootout victory over Rolly FC to set up all Insurance FC finals.

Meanwhile, the Defending Champions of the women’s EFA Cup Edo Queens Football Club of Benin, later on, Wednesday, retained Edo FA Cup after whitewashing Fortress Ladies 8-0 at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium.
With the feat achieved, Edo Queens have now been crowned champions for a record eight times.
