The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, is calling on all levels of governments and Stakeholders across board to ensure that the Country’s Democracy is Sustained.
Rt Hon Onobun disclosed that the inauguration of the house came at a period of great challenges and trials in the history of the state.
He was Speaking at the occasion to mark the second anniversary of the 7th Assembly of the State house in Benin City.
Within the period under review, the speaker noted that, the house received a total of twenty-two bills, for which seventeen bills were passed into law and assented; adding that, five of the bills are at various stages for passage.
He also revealed that, A total of 97 resolutions were adopted with the house also embarking on inspections and arbitration visits, in pursuant to its oversight functions.
The Speaker maintained that the bills and resolutions are targeted at addressing as well as remedying socioeconomic issues in the state.
He, however, described as commendable the working relationship between the executive and the legislative arm of government, noting that, the synergy has played a fundamental role in fostering economic, social and political stability in Edo State.
