The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to youth development through sports, emphasizing its role in instilling discipline, resilience, and teamwork among young Nigerians.

 

This assurance was given by Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, Commissioner for Youth Affairs, during the Command Children School’s 16th Annual Inter-House Sports Competition.

Benin City said the Government prioritizes sports for character-

building and leadership

 

He urged Collaborations with institutions to promote youth development, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, courage, and resilience in achieving the set goal.

 

Earlier, the Commander 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, described the inter-house sports competition as a long-standing tradition in command schools aimed at promoting fitness, teamwork and healthy competition among pupils.

 

The Commander said the event aligned with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy, which places strong emphasis on training and capacity development.

 

The event, held at the 4 Brigade Nigerian Army sports ground, featured various track and field activities for pupils, including 200m, 100m, and 50m races for senior, junior, and nursery pupils.

 

Green House emerged overall winner, followed by Purple House and Blue House.
